Cyber-Monday's Beginnings

Cyber-Monday got it's start before most ppl had internet connections at home. Online retailers were surprised to find their biggest sales day was actually the Monday AFTER Black Friday. That's right, the day ppl returned to work and were able to use the company computer to check out any left-overs from the sales!

Laptops under $200 - Walmart BlackFriday Deals

According to ZDNET Walmart will be selling a budget priced laptop for a sub $200.00 price of $198.00. That's even lower than the retail price of most of the smaller notebooks.

While this eMachine will not meet the needs of those needing a lot of processing power for applications like on-line gaming for this price it's still a great deal.

Origins of Black Friday

The Origins of Black Friday date back to the first Macy's Christmas parade in 1924. That's when the department store held a huge sale after the parade was over and it proved to be a success. Other stores began having big sales on the Friday after Thanksgiving and soon it became the traditional start of the holiday shopping season. The name Black Friday though didn't appear for another 40 years and was originally coined by police officers in Philadelphia to describe the crowds and chaos surrounding the shopping frenzy in that city.
